Forget it! No more relaxed holidays, TSC insists By Graham Kajilwa Standard digital| Saturday, Feb 11th 2017 at 10:05

Teaches Service Commission (TSC) has insisted that it will not relax the new regulations that rule out interference of normal learning programmes with non-academic activities. Following protests from teachers' unions, the commission has stated that the new rules will not be changed and warned that absence of a teacher from school without documentation will be met with strict disciplinary action. "Absence from school by a teacher or head of institution, including on official assignments should be documented and entered in the school log book," said the Commission's head of Communication Kihumba Kamotho. He said from now on, activities like head teachers' conferences that are usually held during school days will happen during the holidays because they keep heads of institutions away from their places of work for upto a week. At least 7,000 school principals and 22,000 head teachers are usually away during this annual event. "This is intended to strengthen super...

John Lewis last week said he would boycott the presidential inauguration in protest at Mr Trump. Mr Trump responded with typical gusto - via a series of angry tweets. Along with Martin Luther King, he was one of the key leaders of America's civil rights movement in the 1960s which called for an end to racial segregation and was beaten by state troopers during the 1965 civil rights march in Selma, Alabama. Ahead of Donald Trump's official inauguration as US President on Saturday, Mr Lewis told America's NBC News : "I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president." Democrat nomin...

They know they did not qualify for Unive...

Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) says after several days of investigations and consultation with examiners deployed to administer and mark the examinations, it is convinced that due process was not followed in marking and releasing of the 2016 results.
